About Me

This is my seventh year at Coral Academy. I started at the Tamarus campus teaching first and second grades, then moved over to Eastgate when they opened the new campus. Last year I taught fifth grade English Language Arts (ELA) and 5th grade American History, and I am teaching the same subjects this year as well.

I am a former homeschooling mom, teaching my four children from Kindergarten through Junior High for 15 years. I went back to school for my teaching degree while teaching my youngest daughter, and then began teaching formally in 2003 at Trinity Christian Schools (formerly part of Trinity Life Center). Since then I have been a substitute teacher for CCSD, librarian, art teacher, and third grade teacher at Lake Mead Christian Academy, third grade and kindergarten teacher for Robert E. Lake Elementary (CCSD). I have earned my master's degree in educational studies with a concentration in special education. I have had several long-term sub positions for CCSD in developmental delay preschool, the KIDZ program for children with severe autism, and the resource room for conduct-disorder Middle School students. I have also subbed in many of the elementary and junior high schools in the Henderson area. I have a special education endorsement for Teaching English Language Learners (TESL), and I am currently pursuing a doctorate in educational psychology with a concentration in cognition and instruction.

I look forward to getting back into the classroom this year and continuing to work with students and families. The students at Coral have been the best children with whom I have ever worked, and I am especially glad to have younger brothers and sisters of former students in my class.
